Thus, Silverback returns to being his Hide while Midnight returns to the locker. Jack finally chooses Silverback because he wanted the strength of a wolf but the compassion of a human. Jack is forced to choose between Silverback and Midnight, being guided by Eric Clarke in the collective mind. When Jack finds Silverback in The Order's hideout, it re-enters his body, creating a conflict between himself and the Hide that Jack was bringing at the time, Midnight. However, when The Order erases the Knights' memory, they take Silverback along with the rest of the den's magical relics. When Kyle, Gabrielle, and Brandon start chasing the werewolves. A werewolf is a human that has the ability to shape himself into a wolf and they are occasionally called lycanthrope. Jack lost the spirit of Silverback and is now bonded to the spirit of Midnight. Being a werewolf also strengthens his magic allowing him to perform stronger spells. When the Vade Maecum is finally destroyed, Silverback is again free of the part that was attached to him and returns to the Knights. Midnight is the only Hide who remains without a champion after Silverback chose Jack Morton. Jack became a werewolf after he was chosen to be the champion of Silverback. There, they discover that Silverback had not been wintering, but had been sealed to prevent the Vade Maecum from being completed. This resulted in Silverback starting to reject Jack and put him in a near-death state, forcing the other Knights to remove it. In " Finals, Part One", when Jack was about to give up The Order, the Vade Maecum is attracted to the part that was attached to Silverback. In " Hell Week, Part Two", Silverback is released by Randall Carpio to choose Jack Morton as its new champion. After Sawyer was stopped and trapped inside the book, the Knights made sure to keep Silverback locked up so the Vade Maecum remained separate. When Sawyer tried to complete the Vade Maecum Infernal, Silverback ended up unifying with one of the four parts of the book. During the 1950s, Silverback chose Jurgen Sawyer as his champion.
